Wells Fargo Stagecoach

From 1852 to 1918, Wells Fargo rushed customers’ important business by any means - steamship, railroad, and, where the railroads ended, by stagecoach. At first Wells Fargo contracted with independent stageline owners. Then in the great enterprise of building reliable transcontinental transportation, Wells Fargo came to own and operate the largest stagecoach empire in the world. Since then, Wells Fargo has been forever linked with the six-horse Concord Coach charging across the vast plains and high mountains of the West.

Wells Fargo still owns and displays ten originals in their history museums, thirteen authentic reproductions on display in their buildings, and a fleet of seventeen that roll almost every weekend in parades across the nation.

Lizzy Traband

Lizzie Traband was born without a left forearm, but she has not let her disability deter her from becoming a horse performer and trainer by the age of 13!  Lizzy has performed at the World Equestrian Games and numerous expos, and she developed her own training program, Taiji Horsemanship, at the age of 9. Lizzie will perform at Devon from Friday, May 25 through Sunday, May 27.

Radnor Fox Hounds

Founded in 1883, Radnor Hunt is the oldest continuously active foxhunt in the United States, recognized by the Master of Foxhounds Association of America. From September through March, three days a week, the Radnor Hounds and their disciples are united in their purpose. The chase has been a staple of country life in and around Philadelphia for generations. They will appear at Devon on Saturday Evening, May 26th.

Arena Carriage Racing

Carriage racing is a timed event combining the elegance of hitched events with the excitement of racing. Participants ride steel carriages and use special harnesses to guide the horses through a series of gates. The drivers sit in the front and control the reins while the navigators ride in the back, advising the drivers and shifting their weight to counterbalance the turns. You will see Arena Carriage Racing at Devon from Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2.

Philadelphia Police Department Mounted Unit

The Philadelphia Police Foundation is supporting the Philadelphia Police Department's efforts to bring back the Mounted Unit. Cops and horses were a vital part of the Department's patrol strategy until 2004 when the unit was disbanded due to budgetary constraints. This high-visibility unit is great for patrolling our neighborhoods, our Center City shopping corridors and areas in Fairmount Park. Horses on patrol are not only an excellent community relations tool, but they are great for crowds and security. See the Philadelphia Mounted Patrol at Devon on Thursday Evening, May 31!
