Volunteer Opportunities!
Welcome Volunteers!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Devon Country Fair Volunteer! Our committee sign-ups for the 2026 Show will be active in March, but we would love to share some information with you and get to know you a bit in the meantime!
To Volunteer at this year’s Devon Fall Classic to be held September 11-14, 2025 contact us here!
What is the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair?
Just that! It’s a two for one; since 1896 we have been a world-class equestrian competition attracting some of the world’s best riders and horses, and in 1919 added a fun-filled country fair offering 12 days of food, shopping, and entertainment for the whole family. Proceeds of the Devon Country Fair benefit our local community hospital, Bryn Mawr. We are currently fulfilling a $2,000,000 dollar pledge.

Why are volunteers needed?
The Devon Country Fair is 100% managed and staffed by a truly one-of-a-kind organization of volunteers. It takes 2,000 people to bring the Fair to life. We have a core group of about 130 Committee Chairmen that work year-round planning and organizing our food booths, our retail booths, and our entertainments. We even have a committee that helps plan the gorgeous flowers and plants used throughout the show grounds. All these committees are fully up and running for the entire duration of the show, and it takes an army of volunteers to staff them!
What does a volunteer do?
When sign-ups “go-live” in March, you’ll be able to get a full description of what volunteers for each committee are asked to do in the “booth” during the show. For a quick overview, read on…
1896 GRILL – The1896 Grill sells burgers, pizza, hot dogs, and the famous Devon fries. Volunteer opportunities include taking and serving food orders, prepping behind the scenes, managing the cash registers, and working the grills.
ART GALLERY AT DEVON – Perfect for volunteers who have a love art and who enjoy interacting with individuals interested in expanding their own art collections. Duties include monitoring the gallery, assisting in the promotion of the gallery and sales and securely wrapping art for our customers.
CANDY BOOTH – Volunteers will be preparing lemon sticks and selling fudge, candy, and lemon sticks.
DEVON DERBY – Volunteers sell Devon Derby books of chances throughout the show. Prizes range from a 2-year lease on a car to Phillies tickets, and more.
FLOWERS – Plant the window boxes in the County Fair, waters them as needed during the show, and assists with the annual plant sale the last day of the show.
KIDS CRAFTS – Help guide our littlest guests though selecting and creating their masterpieces during select hours.
MIDWAY – Devon’s Midway is all about providing fun for the kid in everyone. Volunteers sell tickets for the Midway amusements.
SOFT DRINKS AND ICE CREAM – Volunteers will be serving ice cream, making milkshakes and smoothies, and selling bottled water and sodas.

SIPS & BITS – Sips & Bits offers charcuterie, sandwiches, salads, and grain bowls, gourmet egg rolls, tomato pie and more, as well as very tasty drinks to wet your whistle. Volunteers will be serving prepackaged items (minimal assembly, if any, required) and pouring prebatched beverages.
TEA CART – Volunteers will be serving delicious tea sandwiches, wraps, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, specialty baked goods and. Of course, hot and cold tea and coffee throughout the show.
WINE GAZEBO – Our volunteers sell a selection of wine, beer and hard seltzers and are also responsible for maintaining the Pavilion. Must be 21 years of age to volunteer.

What’s the commitment?
We ask that volunteers sign up for two shifts if possible. A shift is typically 3-4 hours long. We have many volunteers who do several shifts throughout the show on multiple committees, and maybe that will be you down the road, but as a starting point, two shifts will get you a pass that is good for admission to all 12 days of the show (a $240 value), plus free parking for your shifts. We also ask that volunteers purchase a book of Derby raffle tickets. It is a $10 purchase that becomes part of our “rainy day fund”, and as we clearly saw in 2025, a little padding against inclement weather is a good thing.
Who can volunteer?
Just about anybody, we have opportunities for all ages! If you would like to learn more about us, we’d love to talk to you! You can shoot us an email, and we will get back to you. We’ll be hosting a few fun events this fall for those interested in learning more about us. We also love to see you at our annual Volunteer Sign Up Party in April. This is a wonderful way to meet committee leaders, learn about what each committee does, sign up for shifts and meet other volunteers.
